Finally, You Can Rent Hotels for Just the Afternoon

Picture it: You’re traveling to a new city and really don’t want to shell out hundreds on a fancy hotel. But then again, you do just want to take a nice bath. If only you could pop by a swank place for a few hours to unwind after that morning of sightseeing… 

Meet Hotels by Day, a new site that makes it a breeze to check into a hotel room during the off hours (aka the time period in between when guests check out and in) for a fraction of the typical cost. 

Here’s how it works: Visit the site (or download the app) and plug in the city and country you’re visiting (or even your own hometown if you're into that sort of thing) and then the date of your intended stay. For example, we searched rates in Boston and pulled up a cute place next to Fenway Park that would charge us just $99 for a six-hour room reservation between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Not bad!

Now, we know what you’re thinking. And yes, you can do that, too. But rest assured: These are not seedy hour-rate motels. All hotels listed on the site have to have at least a three-star rating, plus offer you access to all the amenities of a regular guest (everything from the pool and room service to the gym). So there’s plenty of opportunity to get the full hotel experience--just on your own terms.
